A delay in take-off If you put the car into gear but it seems to be taking a longer time before you can take off, this is an indicator the transmission fluid may be getting dirty and sludgy. Get this fault diagnosed at your earliest opportunity. 2. Shuddering If your vehicle has a rough feel to the engine when it revs up it can be anything from a gearbox or engine mount to an internal transmission fault, or a problem with the torque converter. 3. Shifting gears isn't as smooth Transmission gear changes are normally silky smooth. If Your car starts banging or changing gear harshly you've got a problem. This would need to be diagnosed by a technician. Can be mechanical or electronic. 4. Reverse gear is stubborn Ifyouhavetorevthecarupa bit before it will go into reverse, this indicates the vehicle isn't operating as it should. Possibly a blocked transmission filter causing low oil pressure. 5. Engine over revs when driving The car isn't changing gears soon enough especially when cold.
